Rules

Teams

Enter a qualifying bonspiel and win and you will have an automatic berth into the Sweepers Cup. At the time of registration for that bonspiel we will take the names of your team mates. If the winning team has already qualified for the Sweepers Cup through another bonspiel, the Runner Up in A will receive the berth into the Sweepers Cup.  Two of the original team (one being the skip)  must   play in the Sweepers Cup. This is to ensure fairness to all teams.  You are able to register a 5th player when you go into the bonspiel but the Skip in the bonspiel must be the skip in the Sweepers Cup.

Sweeping, Brooms and Foam restrictions:

We are following Curl BC rules. For removable covers, you are only allowed to use the Competition Heads (pads) No recreation Pads. For Foam pads,

The regulation changes will apply only to component style brushes (covers/sleeves over moulded foam) with the following brushes being approved for play in World Curling competitions:

  • BalancePlus with Original RS Foam
  • BalancePlus RS with 3.0 foam
  • SmartBroom by Curling Tools with less-firm foam (subject to lab approval)
  • Goldline Impact with Pulsar foam
  • Hardline Ice Pad with Recreational foam
  • End Game Icon

All existing traditional brushes (fabric stapled to the brush head) will remain approved.

With the new regulations coming into effect, the following brushes are no longer approved for play in World Curling competitions:

  • BalancePlus RS with Firm 2.0 foam
  • Goldline Impact with Evader foam
  • Goldline Impact with Pursuer foam (already withdrawn)
  • Hardline Ice Pad with Competitive foam
  • SmartBroom by Curling Tools with current foam

Qualifying Events

All of the qualifying bonspiels are able to set their own style of play whether it is a Traditional Draw, Pool Play, 8 ends or 6 ends. But the Sweepers Cup will be 8 ends.

Seeding

We reserve the right to seed teams based on entries and calibre of players. If there is a large competitive contingency we may choose to go with pool play versus a traditional draw. Typically though we would just draw team names out of a hat for the draw.
